Nice studio, good location, appalling organisation
First things first, it was a nice, clean studio but that's only part of the story.
There's no regular reception and I wasn't contacted to be given an access code. The 3 phone numbers given at the front door didn't work (voicemail x2, and a company name which didn't correspond with the name of the hotel).
My room wasn't ready so I had to wait around for it to be cleaned. 10am or 10:30 checkout? Depends where you look and who you ask. Inconsistent information. Also, the staff seemed to have double booked a room as the man who arrived at the same time as me found his room already had someone in it. This concerned me as, for all I knew, someone could have been in my room whilst I was out.
When I arrived back in the evening there were 2 men sleeping on bean bags as they couldn't get hold of the staff on the phones either, and their belongings were locked in the reception room.
In no way was this a relaxing stay. Sure, the bed was nice, but the organisation and security flaws meant I slept with one eye open. I think pigs will fly before I stay here or with this company ever again.

Lovely staff. Would recommend a written apartment guide/manual since the front desk is open limited hours though for things like using the WiFi and intercom.
Avoid at all means if you’re looking for value for your money. Very awkward meeting, was made to stand outside for 5 minutes to wait for someone to open a door for us to the reception - no WiFi wrote down, just told to us to remember the login and password - initially looked ok to the eye - we dropped our stuff and left the apartment as we had things we needed to do. After arriving back to look thoroughly around our apartment we realised it wasn’t very nice. Very industrial, looked like it was very cheaply decorated, chipped paint on the walls, cheap signs around which were peeling off, bed felt about 10 years old, never mind the rest - the list is endless. They state they had laundry facilities available - no washing machine anywhere in the apartment & when contacted later in the evening was told I couldn’t use them & that they will be open at 9:30am as there is no staff to let me in. (They also charged me a £25 cleaning fee when I got to the property which wasn’t stated before purchasing) So basically had no way of washing work uniform which was needed for the next day - customer service was awful & dealt with very unprofessionally. I’ve contacted the office several times and they’ve chose to ignore my calls and message I left (all I asked for was my £25 cleaning fee back as I left the apartment to stay elsewhere as it was that awful) I will never in my life return or recommend to anyone, EVER

Good location but remote check in/out by 0844 no.
Really good location just opposite the John Lewis of New Street Station, easy access and good Chinese restaurants around.
However no one at reception, and because booked through hotels.com no PIN given and have to call 0844 number for access into the building and for key collection. Also because of this no VAT receipt issued and have to call the same number again ask them to email over.
I was always told to only say something if it was nice so here goes - the location is adjacent to New St station so excellent....
I have stayed at City Quarters hotels in London and found them to be relatively expensive but in tip top condition. I doubt very much that this is part of the same chain. The exterior looks run down and once inside the lobby the smell is of last night's curry. The eoom itself is a reasonable size but very run down. The bed is uncomfortable - it felt like a fold me up - and the bedding and pillows were poor. The furnishings are old and cheap - the tv was the size of a teabag - and the bathroom floor is metal!. Nasty.
Very centrally located apartments, just opposite the entrance to the train station.
Pros, location, clean, fully equipped, next to New Street train station and mall with food market, coffee places and Starbucks, they open at 6.00 so convenient to grab a coffee early morning.
Cons, not so big room, quite noisy during weekend nights, very bad wifi.
Considering the price, the studio needs a lift up. The sofa was uncomfortable. I could not work the TV or use the WiFi. It is rather noisy and the big screen above the entrance to railway station is a source of constant light
Great location, nice clean comfortable apartment. I would recommend eye mask as even with the blinds down the Giant LED screen from the station is glaring in and makes it bright.
The apartments were very easy to find. Coming from the trains turn left towards the south exit and John Lewis escalators, walk down the steps outside and the apartments are facing you! We 'checked in' at 18.45 to find a locked door. According to the note on the door we should have had a code email but that had not happened. A short phone call later, number at door, got code and all was well.
Ate at the Han Dynasty restaurant next door - v good. You can have a DIY buffet which you cook yourself on special tables with cooking pots. Wasn't brave enough to try it myself but the sizzling pepper fillet steak was excellent.
When you get into the room you are hit y the heat. There is no air conditioning, and the window barely opens.
This is nothing until you try to sleep. The blinds don't fully close, and just outside is a very bright LED screen at the same height as the room (if you are on the second floor or higher). Do not expect any sleep.
I would stay elsewhere.
Positives: it's across the road from the station.
Fantastic location in terms of New Street station, bars and shopping. .
Studio apartment - poor quality in terms of finish, repair work required and value for money.
Access issues - check-in/check-out times (3pm & 10.30am) and staff contact "out of hours" beyond maintenance issues.
I was in town overnight to see the three degrees two doors down and two minutes out of new street so perfect location...the exterior looks tired and worn...but inside is modern...the apartment was clean ..well equipped..and most importantly I got a great night s sleep..check inn was easy and got courtesy call to see if everything was OK..I would recommend the Shaftesbury..you would be hard to please if you didn't like um
The location for this is pretty good if your only purpose is to take the train quickly the following morning. Otherwise, there's nothing I liked about the place, it looks worn out and depressing to spend your evening in. I would not stay there again.

Ideal location right outside new street station.
Never received 4 digit code to get in. Couldnt find any staff to ask for a late checkout.
standard size rooms, however double bed was small and uncomfortable. Apartment has a strange smell.
Dishwasher provide gave all dishes an intese wash before used.
Price is a bit high for what you receive.
