The shower place had some bugs so I wasn’t happy about it but still it is worth the price and the staff were really friendly. I would definitely go again when I visit Bilbao.
Friendly welcome, free breakfast and warm bed at a very good price. Parking is free on the road, if you are lucky to find a spot, but there is also a paid but cheap parking lot a fleet of stairs down the hill.
I found the iron hostel very clean and spacious. We were in a mixed dorm so it was quite noisy with people packing and unpacking bags. Bring ear plugs and have a eye mask is my suggestion. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. I like the location of the irion hostel on the old part of town on the hill, with great views. My suggestion is book a smaller dorm with less people. It is on the Camino trail so you've lots of pilgrims also. Over all it was very clean & staff get 10 out of ten. I had stayed in The Pil Pil Hostel previous to this in Bilbao & found it unpleasant & not in a great location. They charge €2.50 for their breakfast in Pil, pil which is a total rip off. The Irion hostel is better & breakfast is included in the price and again a great location over looking bilbao.
I was staying here for 3 nights at the women mixed room. The room is quite spacious and clean ,with locker to store your belongings.
The bunker bed is fair enough for the rate I’m paying .
The staffs are friendly and helpful , speak good enough English.
I wish they could provide more bread selections in breaskfast.
The location of the hostel is perfect if you are looking for a piece of quite and calm. And for those who do not mind to walk up and down hill a lot. The view along the path to the hostel is stunning and meomorable .
And this is my 1st visit in Bilbao / Spain

Car park problems, no atmosphere, long way out
I chose this hostel for the car park & it looked clean with good communal spaces. When i arrived it was apparent that the car park is tiny. It fits 4 cars max with the last car blocking the other 3 in. Unfortunately the hostel is not very well organised & I was woken up at 4am by a guest shining a torch in my face saying I had to move my car as it was blocking him in. This was absolutely unacceptable. I was specifically told when i arrived that it was okay for the last car in to block the others in. I had even checked with the girl on reception that evening that it was okay to do so & she confirmed that no one would be leaving until late morning. When I raised this incident in the morning the manager was very rude and unsympathetic and offered no refund/reduction.
There was no atmosphere when I was staying, although to be fair there weren't many people there. The receptionist plays classically music until late on into the evening. Not to my taste but may suit some people.
The mattress and pillows are covered in a thick plastic coating, rather like a hospital bed. Not very comfortable & the pillow felt very 'solid'. No good for me. There was also a banging noise from the upstairs premises (not part of the hostel) which meant that even when I was not being woken up by other guests in the middle of the night, it was not a relaxing pleasant place to stay.
I moved to another hostel which was closer in, much more comfortable & good atmosphere. I cannot recommend this hostel

A good place for the night before you start your Camiño walk, great breakfast!!
GREAT hostel. Super friendly staff. English speaking for the most part. The kitchen is full of everything you need to cook a meal. Great common area. Close to metro, grocery store and attractions. Right on the Camino. For €5 they’ll wash and dry your clothes for you. Clean bathrooms and rooms. Definitely a great value
Right on the Camino and close to grocery stores, bus lines and the metro. They speak English well which is nice and theyre very friendly. 1€ cold soda and beer. Great kitchen for cooking. Fast WiFi. Super clean bathrooms and showers. Professional cleaned linens. Large windows with a great view for cooling down the rooms. Great common areas. No TV I don’t think. All in all great place.
