About this property

River LodgeTipi's at Stepping Stone

Facing the Swan Mountains on 20 beautiful rolling acres in North West Montana
are three 20' Tipi's available for overnight stays for those looking for a more
"down to earth experience". This Tipi has a Queen size bed, linens & blankets, grass mats, small tables,
and solar lights. Enjoy the moon, and experience the wonder of being/sleeping
in an ancient conical structure!! The rest room is near by in the glass blowing studio,
which is very basic, nothing fancy....just a sink and a toilet, no shower. But due to such overwhelming interest in the tipi experience we will be adding a new solar powered shower next season! Most folks have been enjoying swimming in the near by world class Flathead Lake.
DIRECTIONS
Once turning off Hwy 35 at Saint John Paul Catholic Church it is the 3rd driveway on your left. Immediately after the Rising Mountain assisted Living. There are red streamers
Tied to a glass and metal pole! It is 0.2 of a mile from hwy 35. Siri & goggle maps takes you too far down Coverdell Rd.
*** If you are squeamish about insects.... expect a hotel type restroom...or experiencing varied weather conditions, this destination is probably not for you !!

Make yourself comfortable in your accommodation.
Guests will find features like onsite parking.

To be honest we weren't sure what to expect but the property is gorgeous and the town of Big Fork is incredible. Lee is a fantastic host and the beds in the teepee's are quite comfortable also the washroom facilities are great. 10/10 would definitely stay here again! Thank you Lee!

It was a unique experience and I slept well. The bed was comfy, but I did keep on thinking about the grasshoppers that were also in the tipi. The view from out of the door was great and communication was great.

My motorcycle adventure
Staying in a tipi was a great way to end my trip through beautiful Montana. There were deer in the meadow and I could an owl hooting both nights I was there.

Unique Montana experience
We had the absolute BEST experience here! The host, Lee was so kind and accommodating and had an adorable cat which made our stay that much better. It’s a very fun experience and the outdoor shower was a hit! Would highly recommend this spot for a cute weekend getaway. Lee is also a talented artist and we were lucky enough to watch his glass blowing

Not what we expected!
No floor in tent; tent not secure to ground; I love cats, but not when they jump on me after midnight when sleeping!!! I can do with basic amenities, such as no shower and walking to the restroom, but NO HOT WATER!?!? The toilet that was available was filthy - no attempt to have cleaned it for possibly years!! Host was there at checkin, but I asked via messages several questions after we arrived and I never heard from him again!! We paid for 2 nights, and didn’t go back after the first night!! Pictures showed tepees at night glowing, implying that there were lights of some kind inside - there were NO LIGHTS! The outside solar lights were scarce and very dim; outside furniture was old and unsafe to sit on. Very bad experience!! I’m still suffering from ptsd from the cat jumping on us in the middle of the night!! Camping should be fun, not terrifying!! On the plus side: beautiful property, the bed was comfortable (until the cat attack!) and host is an excellent glass worker and had an interesting shop.

Magical Place, Great Host
Such a unique experience! We had an amazing stay and just loved sitting in front of the tipi gazing out at the massive mountain range and listening to the coyotes howling in the distance. Lee was a fantastic host and made us feel welcome and comfortable. I highly recommend this one!

Connect back to the land
We love the tipis because they take us back to our connection with the Earth. We love looking at the stars at night and staying in simplicity. And just a hop skip and a jump away is the lake, food, etc. we absolutely this love this place and Lee is a super awesome human. His glass blowing is out of this world.

Highly recommend to adventurer's.
The rental process was easy. Lee was a great host who responds back timely with questions and concerns (if any). If I needed something he got it for me. The property exceeded my expectations. The teepee was huge! The bed was comfortable and came with a little night stand and small bench. Do expect crickets and few other small insects. They don’t bother you at all. Nights were nice and cool so I experienced no sweating at all. That was a concern of mine since there’s no AC. The outdoor shower works but you’ll need a small light source if showering at night. I used my phone. There’s a cat as well that slept with me my third night. Super friendly. The views were amazing with the mountains in front of you off in the distance when you exited your teepee. The bathroom was indoor and real close to the teepee if you needed to go late at night. 10/10 I’d stay again. I dig stuff like this. What an experience.

The tipi was an awesome experience to camp in. The property is very beautiful and peaceful. The location is conveniently placed close to town and the lake. The Glacier National Park is also about 40 minutes away which makes the tipi a good home base location. The host, Lee, was very communicative, helpful, and always made sure I had everything I needed. Would stay again 10/10.

well worth the experience and then some
What a cool host and amazing experience. I was concerned it would be too hot on a very hot day; but it was cool in the evening and the bed was comfortable. The host is an artist and very chill and friendly. Very close to Big Fork, yet you are immersed in nature with great views of sunrise and sunset. I will go out of my way to stay there again.

WOW!!
What an amazing experience. Just as described moderate level glamping. Property is gorgeous and use of bathroom in shop adds a funky, artistic feel to the experience. Lee even snuck out early and closed the rain flaps on our teepee for us. Truly a gift to get to experience this property.

Peaceful and Relaxing
Check in was easy and location easy to find. Beautiful location! So quiet. So. So. quiet. Simple, nothing fancy. Outdoor shower, basic toilet and sink. A perfectly distinguished black and white cat greeted us when we used the restroom, and waited for a scritch under the chin after we came out. It rained, it was cold, but the bedding kept us very warm. It was the perfect morning to wake up and have a cup of coffee and watch the fog roll away. We ate dinner at a local spot, then came back and had wine in plastic cups sitting on the bed listening to the rain. Wish we lived locally, we’d visit more often for a peaceful getaway. Perfect for those looking to getaway with no distractions (except for the cat, which we found charming and found a reason to visit the studio to see him a couple times) Thanks Lee! We will be back someday!!

TeePee Heaven
The property is quiet with views of distant mountains. The teepee was a delight to sleep in, hearing the wind and rustling leaves put me right to sleep. The description online fit the property. I think most who would like to sleep in a teepee would give this property a 5 stars rating.

Cool Experience but Needs Improvement
My fiance and I stayed in one of the tipis for 2 nights. When we were on our way, I messaged the host 3 times with no response. When we arrived, no one was there to help so we left and got dinner. When we came back, we had to go knock on the door at the main house and a clearly intoxicated man pointed us to tipi #2. No other direction or introduction. We luckily got there early enough in the day that we could manage. But if we had arrived after dark, it would have been extremely difficult. The tipi itself is good, the bed is pretty comfortable. But know that bugs are going to get into the tent and even the cat if you've made friends. Didn't bother me but my fiance really struggled with it.
