The house has beautiful views and the linens were clean. That is where the positive points end.
The house has a strong odor of mold that immediately caused my allergies to flare up. I suspect there was water damage as they had moisture eaters around the house and there was area where you can see evidence of former water intrusions. There was also a strong odor of sewage emitting from the bathrooms that may be attributed to septic system issues. As a result the house did not feel or smell particularly clean.
The house is quite literally in front of a penguin and dassie habitat so there is also, depending on how the wind blows, a strong odor coming from the outside as well. That is just a part of it being so close to the sea but if you’re sensitive to smells, be aware.
Everywhere we have stayed at this price point has provided Essentials such as soap or shampoo. There was not even a small bar of soap. We arrived late at night so we had to wait until morning to go to a store to buy a bar of soap to shower.
The beds are dressed with heavy duvets and there were no lighter blankets or top sheets provided making it very warm to sleep when it’s warm out. There is also no fans of any kind to help cool the rooms at night or introduce airflow.
Overall, the property strikes me as a minimal output and effort by the owners who, we noticed, are actually selling the home.
I would avoid. There are many nice rentals on the area and the area itself is wonderful.
