Disappointing
Very helpful staff keen to assist but some of reception staff were offhandish. Rooms very small, air conditioning didn’t work very well. Hotel is not located in a good part of town and we wouldn’t stay here again.

The location is great for any occasion you might have for visiting Berlin. Room very clean, staff very friendly and very helpful. I didn't have food but the lounge area is quite comfortable and the breakfast area is quite spacious. Central Station is 10min walk from Hotel. Underground is 2min walk. Visiting Berlin again I will definitely look to book this hotel.

Considering the “upscale” classification given this property, I would have to say that my stay was disappointing. The hotel supplied only 1 pillow for the bed and only 1 bath towel, and 1 hand towel. My room and the lobby were rather “spartan” and more like what I’ve seen in lower end motels like Super 8 or some Motel 6. The shower door is missing a silicon seal near a bottom corner and a lot of water leaks out onto the bathroom floor when showering. If this survey allows it, I’ll attach a photo so the hotel can pinpoint the shower door issue and make an easy repair for about a $20 and 10 minutes time to replace the seal. After a couple of days of the one pillow/one towel life (I kept thinking that housekeeping would add more), I did ask for an extra pillow and an extra towel and they provided them … but to me, those are the kinds of things that should already be in place and hotel guests shouldn’t have to ask for. The staff were nice and the nightly rate was reasonable. The location was fairly good, being in walking distance to public transportation, some eating places, and in the same block as the Natural History Museum (which I rate as the best Natural History Museum that I’ve ever been to … a must see if you stay in the area!) I would stay here again if I couldn’t find somewhere nicer at reasonable rates … just realize, at this Mercure, you are getting what you paid for but not much more (in my opinion.) I stayed at another Mercure in Budapest and it was much nicer.

Thoroughly enjoyed staying here. Staff were excellent, especially the bar staff who worked so hard! Breakfast was superb (though an option for decaf coffee would have been welcomed), with a fantastic range of choices. Looking forward to returning some time!

Mercure Hotel Berlin City is well located, 950m from Berlin HBF (central station) and with a tram stop right out front. There are also plenty of restaurants within 10 - 15 min walk. The hotel is clean, and our room had adequate, albeit basic facilities, other than a fridge. The restaurant was more than happy to provide ice on request though. Service is okay, though I had to go down to reception to collect a firmer pillow, rather than it being brought to me. The most annoying issue I had was the air conditioning, which functions differently than what i am used to. It shuts off entirely once the air temperature outside reaches the setting in the room. The room then gradually warms up to the point where I woke up on 2 of 4 nights feeling that I was suffocating. Normally, air conditioning kicks back in once the room warms up, but this one does not turn back on. The front desk were aware of this issue and offered to unlock the window for us. Whilst this helps, I shouldn't have to get up during the night to open the window. The mattresses also need to be rotated. I felt like my feet were higher than my body. I loved Berlin and will come back to this city again, though I'll stay somewhere else next time. Mercure Hotel Berlin City is average at best.

The hotel is well situated for easy access to other areas, by public transport or on foot. The price was reasonable for such a nice, clean hotel, with very friendly and helpful staff. The bar was an excellent place to unwind and have a few drinks and a some nice food or snacks, again with excellent, friendly service from the bar tender. My favourite dish was one of the snacks - beetroot falafel. I would recommend the hotel for all of the above and for its convenient location to get to anywhere else in Berlin, with a tram stop near the front door and the underground just round the corner.

This hotel was great; very comfortable and clean room. Highly recommend getting the breakfast included as it was delicious. Staff was very kind and there was an option for storing luggage if you arrive before your check-in time. The location is decent, close to the city centre and Berlin Hbf with many transport options. The street may be a little noisy since it's a busy street, but it's not too bad. Highly recommend this hotel!

Expedia have sent an e-mail asking to review this hotel . We didn’t in fact get to it as BA had cancelled our flight . Expedia are aware and are every difficult to contact . The hotel was booked during the time of the Euro finals . We have no doubt that they managed to rebook our rooms due to demand , and also took our payment .However , due to their ‘discretion ‘ we have had no refund at all offered which is indeed their right but seems very unsatisfactory as we have lost £1, 500 through no fault of our own . We will not support Mercure in our future travels .
