About this property
Holiday apartment Belmonte Calabro for 2 - 3 persons with 1 bedroom - Farmhouse
ED Refnr. 2898340
It is a renovated house according to the precepts of bio-architecture and using green building materials, located in the historic center of a medieval village (Belmonte Calabro, CS, Calabria) and inside a "Albergo Diffuso" overlooking on the blue Tyrrhenian Sea.
Belmonte Calabro is located in the center of the mythical region of Calabria, on the Tyrrhenian Sea, at few kilometers from the international airport of Lamezia Terme.
The village is actually a postcard, with colored walls, stairways that lead up and down in a sort of maze to walk slowly and undo the thoughts, flower pots, lamps with warm light, terraces on the roofs, gardens that intersect with walls and gates that are nestled on one another.
All perfectly restored and accessible via a couple of parking at both ends, and in the village you move only on foot. A square that serves as the center of gravity where there is a meeting place and a restaurant with traditional cuisine which is itself the cultural heritage of the people who still live in well-being, perhaps the one true fact of human relationships, adequate time, quality.
It was the home of the loom "du diestru" (the historic downtown area fully exposed to sunlight) in this house, not so great in turns and with not stop, the women of the neighborhood elaborated precious textiles for trousseau both in ginestra as renowned silk yarn. The division of the house evokes this distant time with an entry area in which an old loom and a cavity serving as a bathroom, a large living room-kitchen with a chimney stood suspended in height, and a staircase that connects to the master bedroom with bath.
Belmonte Calabro is among other things a medieval village situated on a rocky hill shape of the back of a donkey. The Mediterranean stain (Macchia Mediterranea) is part of its natural vegetation. The Veri River bathes the lands of Belmonte, and along it you can take a road passing under waterfalls and ending at Mount Cocuzzo to 1541 meters above sea level, through dense and varied vegetation, with a unique fauna and towering centennial trees. Belmonte has a beautiful sea view, which is maximized in the period between October and December, when it is more common also see the archipelago of the Aeolian Islands in the foreground with the Stromboli volcano in constant activity. Belmonte is home of the Reefs of Isca Marine Park (Parco Marino Scogli di Isca), where it is possible to dive in its depths and admire its particular and unique wonders. it is also the home of many famous people (like Michelle Bianchi and poet Galeazzo di Tarsia) and various cultural activities.... All this makes Belmonte one of the most interesting centers in the area.
Belmonte Calabro is a convenient starting point to visit the whole region to discover the natural treasures of the National Parks of Sila, Pollino and Aspromonte; to discover the mysteries of the important and numerous archaeological sites of Calabria which is the richest archaeological heritage of Europe; to discover the mysticism of the fascinating religious routes drawn from the life of San Francesco di Paola, the saint patron of Calabria and of the people of the sea; to discover the archaic and unique traditions of the many villages in Albanian, Occitan and Hellenistic traditions; to discover the beautiful statues of the Riace bronzes; to the discovery of a wonderful region full of … MYSTERIES!
This house is part of a project for the protection and revival of the historical center of Belmonte Calabro, it was like many other dilapidated houses and has been renovated according to the best green building practices, with the idea to bring in some tourists.
It is a widespread hospitality that makes Belmonte Calabro (Cosenza) an example of environmental sustainability and preservation of cultural and social traditions.
