If you like cockroaches - highly recommend
Turned up to find nothing like your site suggested. Other than good view everything was poor. Lift a joke, air conditioning a manual operated box in room with a hose which was noisy, but the last straw was the cockroaches seen on our return to the room the following night. Reported and offered cockroach spray or told to stand on them. Requested to move to another room. Told couldn’t. So left hotel immediately and booked another - complained and offered a refund of 1 night of the booked 3 nights. Only slept there 1 night. Also had to pay taxes again at new hotel. Disgraceful - our wedding anniversary ruined. Expect proper return of fees for 2 nights and 2 days taxes.

Great Hotel for the price.
the property is located in a perfect spot in barca, at the top of the Rambla, convenient to Plaza Cataluna so its only 150 meters from the aerobus the best transport from El Prat. The hotel is simple, clean and well maintained, but the staff is real charm of the place, I was traveling with a bicycle, and they went out of their way to make everything perfect and it was. It is affordably priced the rooms are simple but comfortable and very clean! Awesome staff, thank you Hotel Monogal for a wonderful stay!!

Amazing staff and service. Small hotel, very clean located conveniently on La Rambla. We received detailed instruction about what we could visit and they helped us by holding our baggage before the checkin and after the checkout at no additional costs. Highly recommend this place.

During my experience in hotel monegal i have been really impressed by the central position, in front of the metro station and opposite to the placa catalunya . I recommend it to all the people that want spend to much time in the hotel

No matter how you get to the hotel, getting here is easy and walkable. You have tons of options for food/restaurants. The room I selected had a private 3 twins with a balcony and sharable bathroom. My room also had a sink, easy to get ready, brush teeth and face, wash hands , etc... there was always staff cleaning the bathrooms and showers.... and you had towels a. The showes may be tight, im small to medium built and felt uncomfortable. Im used to large showers and bathrooms, but this was not a problem, it got the job done safely and cleanliness was always a plus. Great centralized location. Near everything. Easy to get around.

VERY NOISY. We stayed here for 4 nights as it was located on Placa de Caralunya and La Rambla. Unfortunately it was the week leading up to the Formula 1 race and there was a stage setup in the square. They were playing very loud music on a loop from early morning to around 10pm. It was so loud that the windows in the room were vibrating. This was compounded by the hotel doing construction work on lower floors and the jack hammers started around 7.30am. The air conditioner in the room was a portable unit and very loud. It was a case of open the window and put up the the external noise or suffer with the AC. Even after the construction and music stopped on an evening it is still a noisy location. There are lots of people on the streets at midnight and you get shouting traffic noise We requested the room be serviced once during our stay and we returned to the room to find that it had been unlocked all day - not good. On the final morning there was a large cockroach in the shower. The reception staff were friendly and sympathetic to the noise issues but there was nothing they could do about it. They said that when its not formula 1, there are other events in the square throughout the summer so expect it to be noisy.We had seen pictures of the rooms on the web prior to booking and they looked good. We must have either got a non renovated room or the pictures were taken a long time ago. I would not recommend staying at this hotel. Its basic and very much in need of renovation.

Fantastic experience. The hotel was clean, well lit and the room had an air conditioner! (Which we were not expecting) Staff was very friendly. They told us to leave our passports and wallets in the room which I thought at first was a bit strange but the person I went with almost got pickpocketed not even 10 minutes after we left the hotel to go shopping so I think that was a good recommendation. The area is great for shopping, lots of restaurants and clothing stores. Also there is a train station close by so that was very helpful.
