What can I say? This place is a true gem. The photos do not do this place justice!
From the minute we arrived Sonia and Franco made us feel at home. It was a surprise trip for my fiancé’s 30th birthday and we arranged with Sonia to have a vineyard tour and a home cooked Italian dinner on his birthday which was simply divine! We even had a taste of their organic wines with each course which included antipasti, pasta and traditional Tuscan dishes.
The farm is in a remote and quiet location, about 3kms away from the friendly village of Tavarnelle, which was a nice 45 to 60 minute walk in the evening sun. A good tip - if you want a taxi home make sure you ask in a restaurant as soon as your arrive! There’s only one taxi in the village and they need some advance notice!
There’s a few nice restaurants in Tavarnelle and a co-op shop full of great value Chianti (from €2!) and wonderful local produce including hams and amazing cheeses - the Gorgonzola is to die for!
If you’re looking for a relaxing and quiet break (with no TV!), a taste of the true Italian lifestyle (and wine!) then this is the place for you. Don’t worry - if you need to keep some contact with the outside world there’s really good WiFi signal in the villas, and it reaches to pool area too!
It’s also really easy to get around when you’re there and you’re only 30 mins from Florence and Siena and just over an hour from Pisa. There are bus options too if you don’t want to drive, but I would probably recommend a car.
I cannot wait to come and visit Sonia, Franco, Agather (their friendly dog!), the cats and their beautiful farm again soon.
What a wonderful holiday thank you so much!
