My wife and I drove the coast of Maine, from Portland, up to the West Quoddy Head Light. The overnight stay we had at Barncastle, was easily the best stay we had all trip. Between the beautiful grounds it sat on, the staff being so wonderful and accommodating, as well as the meal we at there, I'm not sure why you wouldn't make this a stop while in Maine. They have a full bar, as well as a restaurant. The chef, also part owner of Barncastle, must have been sent from heaven. This man and his team can flat out cook! I've been to plenty of good restaurants, but the meal we had was top of the charts. It was fried chicken, which you'd think anyone can make, but not the way this was prepared. Lightly breaded and the most tender piece of chicken a fork has ever pierced through. The bartender behind the bar was also wonderful. Her drink making skills and her kindness are unmatched. We even got to speak to a local that frequented the establishment, who pointed us in the right direction when it came to what we ate. I hope this place continues to thrive and I think anyone that stays here will definitely want to come back for another visit.

Basic room with tv and refrigerator. Seemed recently renovated and clean. Easy walk to Main Street and downtown Bar Harbor, so we only used our car to go to the park. Staff was friendly and helpful. Would absolutely recommend to anyone I know going to Bar Harbor.

When the people above us walked it was loud, and they got up at about 5:00 am. The staff was very nice, and the motel was clean. The location was great to access the downtown area. A few remodeling upgrades would be nice; overall, it was a good place to stay.

Stayed here primarily for the location, being able to walk and enjoy Bar Harbour. It did not disappoint. Bonus was arriving before check in time and seeing a note in the front office that if arriving early feel free to park in their very large parking lot for the area. The motel also had a picnic table and chairs for guests to hang outside was great too. Coffee in the morning was very good.

Location is the key
Location of the motel was great for being able to walk to restaurants, tourist shopping and the boat dock for day cruises without the difficulty of parking and the high cost of parking fees. Although there was no breakfast offered at the motel, there were plenty of breakfast diners within walking distance. The motel suited our needs for a 2-night stay. Front desk was very helpful and friendly.

The motel is a nice property, close walking distance to the main stretch of restaurants and shops of Bar Harbor. We walked everywhere during the trip! What truly makes this place special is the hospitality. Every single person from day and night shift was so kind and welcoming. Susie and Danette were phenomenal. They were quick to provide recommendations for all areas of Mount Dessert Island. My boyfriend and I got engaged on this trip, and I had a friend call the front desk without our knowledge. Danette personally helped my friend (over the phone) get a bottle of champagne to our room to celebrate. You truly don’t get this type of hospitality just anywhere, and it made our trip that much more special. We highly recommend this place and will be back!

Wonderfully close to both Bar Harbor (walking) and Acadia (driving). Staff were wonderful. It was sooo quiet. We slept so well. Great property!!

Main issue we had was noise. The walls are very thin and we could hear the tv and talking of the neighbours on either side until they went to bed. As well it seemed we split a group so they were talking outside our door in the evening. Location was excellent. Main part of room very nice, bathroom in need of an update. Seating area in courtyard was very nice to have. Overall great just noisy.

Downtown is very walkable from Anchorage Motel. We could ride our bikes into Acadia as well. Our room was nice and quiet. There's plenty of parking. It was a great spot for our overnight in Bar Harbor.
