Large, well-appointed cottage
We stayed four nights in this cottage which is relatively close to the motorway between Holland and Germany. It is a very spacious cottage, converted from an old farm building, in the grounds of a small hotel. The setting is very rural, and therefore peaceful. Nearest village is 2-3 km away. The cottage is furnished in a very traditional (old fashioned?) way, but has clearly been very recently modernised so kitchen and bathrooms are very well appointed. The three bedrooms are large and comfortable, each with its own TV.
The nearest large village/small town of Bad Bentheim has plenty of basic shops (e.g. K+K supermarket), plus a few eating places etc. as well as the castle (shloss) to visit. 50km away is Munster, which is well worth a visit.
I would recommend this holiday home for people looking for somewhere quiet, and comfortably equipped. Not, perhaps, so great for a young family looking for plenty of activities / company for the kids. We also felt it was quite expensive, particularly with the €100 mandatory cleaning charge, which we hadn't been expecting, and local taxes - if you're booking a holiday home in a country where you're not familiar with the language, make sure you understand all the charges!
