Cottage #7 on AuTrain River Near Lake Superior Beach, Pictured Rocks, Waterfalls

Conveniently located in the heart of the upper peninsula just minutes from Pictured Rocks, Lake Superior, dozens of waterfalls and endless outdoor activities and adventures. AuTrain River Cottages are located in a private association that is quiet and beautiful. There is about a 100 yards of river frontage to enjoy and relax next to. Cottages are pet friendly and range from one bedroom to 3 bedrooms and can accommodate from one to 8 guests. Each Cottage has all amenities included like WiFi, towels, linens, blankets, pillows and cooking supplies. There is a fire-pit area for guests to enjoy a fire w/a view of the river and wood can be purchased locally. Also included is a gas grill w/propane, and one free standard kayak rental from Da Ya Shak. Launching of the canoe is on site and shuttle service is available. Additional kayaks are available for rent. A fishing boat w/motor are available to you on site for a discounted rate. Mooring your own boat is a possibility, contact me for details.

The Mountain Ash Cottage has tons of character. The interior is all pine and the layout is unique. I have done a lot of custom work inside this cottage to bring out that UP feel. The kitchen is fully stocked and seems to be a favorite with the high ceiling and custom tile. There is a dining table w/4 chairs in the living area, which includes a couch, loveseat and two HDTV's with streaming service and wifi. This cottage is perfect for 2-5 people but can accommodate up to 7. The main bedroom has King bed, the 2nd bedroom has a double with a twin bunk on top. There is an optional sleeping area in what I call a half bedroom which is a pretty small room that has a cot sized bunk bed. The front porch is great for relaxing while looking at the river and there are outdoor chairs for everyone. DA Loft cottage might be everyone's favorite, but this one books the most, and if you stay here, you will understand why.

The AuTrain River provides excellent swimming, and canoeing/kayaking as it winds 12 miles through the Hiawatha National Forest. Further down river puts you into Lake Superior and quite possibly the best beach on all of Lake Superior. Up river is the beautiful AuTrain Lake which provides a wonderful place to enjoy water sports, fishing or just a relaxing cruise. Bass, Walleye or Pike are your most commonly fished.

Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore located in Munising is only 15 minutes away and there are over a dozen waterfalls within a 30 mile radius. The National Lakeshore provides days worth of outdoor activities. If you are into fishing, Trout and Salmon are the most commonly fished in Lake Superior.

I have seen nearly everything in this area and am a great resource during your stay. I will meet with you after you arrive and give you advice about the area and things you can enjoy during your vacation.
Make yourself comfortable in this air-conditioned cottage, which features a fireplace. There's a private patio. A kitchen is outfitted with a refrigerator, an oven, and a stovetop. Complimentary wireless internet access is available to keep you connected.
Take in the views from a garden and make use of amenities such as gas grills.
Guests will find features like internet access and onsite parking.

Experience overall
Beds were not comfortable, cleanliness was good for bedding and towels but anything needed for the kitchen was dirty. There was no communication until we arrived and had to call to see how to enter the property. TV in the living room was unusable as it would turn on but only displaying a restarting screen.

Nice cabin
Comfortable furniture, good kitchen, plenty of hot water, nice to have two bathrooms, good communication with host, good use of spaces (a little tight in some spots). We would definitely recommend this place.

Cousin trip
This was a very clean property. The kitchen had a lot of pots and pans, which was nice. The only thing that we missed was a strainer. The bunks mattresses may have been more comfortable for a child than an adult, but for a few days were ok The shower temperature, water pressure and towels were great

Good stay at cute cabin
We had a really great stay in this cabin. There were 5 adults total with 3 dogs, so it was a tight fit, but doable if you don’t mind being close 😄 there was plenty of parking for 3 cars (one parked in visitor parking) and the cabin was clean. Our only issue was that there was no hand soap or trash in either of the bathrooms.

Pretty setting
Cabin is small but was very clean and located right by the river. Close to Pictured Rocks which worked well for us. Although it has three bedrooms, I think having more than a few people would be a bit crowded. Overall good experience.

Good for families - other cabins are very close
The cabin was fine. Small but that was kind of expected. We didn't totally expect all the cabins very close by. So if you have a family or group of friends and want to mingle with all the neighbors and make new friends and that kind of thing, then this is great for you. We were hoping for a little space and more privacy... but it's all good ! Thanks !

Cozy place in great location
If you are people who love being outdoor, enjoy firepit time with neighbors from other cabins and ready to jump into kayak right from your house- this is your place. Nice living room with big TV, clean linens, alot of towels.Be aware that there is no door in one of the bedrooms, for our group that was not an issue and, overall, very cool unique place for that money range.

Rustic is an understatement
Soooo, this is a standard rustic UP cabin. No check in instructions. No one is on-site. Somehow the floors were always covered in sand, no matter how much we swept. The smart tv was a nice upgrade but the furniture, beds, floors and even doors were old and in desperate need of repair/replacement. I’m honestly flabbergasted that this place is up to code. Literally exposed wires sticking out of the wall. Yikes. When we couldn’t get the heat working the owners were quick to respond and assist.

Nice location needs work
Nice location of the cabin and some updates had been attempted. The bathroom had moldy shower curtain and the floor was in dire need of replacing. The mattress in all beds, except the bigger bedroom, were thin and uncomfortable. Cute cabin just need to update the issues noted above.

Perfect location
My Daughter and Grandchildren came with me to see the fall colors. The location was perfect. There are lots of beautiful waterfalls, hiking, and kayaking in the area. I thought the accommodations were good for the price we paid for 3 adults and 4 children. We had plenty of towels, the beds were comfortable, and the kitchen was well stocked with plates, pans, dishes, and utensils.

Rustic cabin
Property wasn’t ready at check in time but shortly after. Front door was locked and we had no idea how to get in. Finally found unlocked back door but could not find the key. Tried to call phone number listed 3X and only got VM with a full mailbox. Thankfully one of our guests found the key. No coffee or Keurig as listed. There’s a regular coffee maker so we had to drive to town for coffee. Pillows and bedding are marginal. The hooks hanging off the porch are dangerous. A few people hit them when walking past. The cabin is pretty rough but clean! But the location is great, nice size cabin, and the grounds are nice. Fire pit was great. Would consider a return there but would probably look for something else first.
