The house, the open-air bath, and the staff are all amazing. The house is clean and renewed well, not showing its age at all. Kitchen is clean, bathroom is modern. Location is a 5m hilly walk away from nearest train station, not a problem for me.
The single, biggest issue is that the "beds" in the house are thin pads on top of hardwood frames - absolutely zero comfort. It's worse than a traditional futon on tatami. Might be tolerable for people who sleep on your back, but otherwise, if you want a good night's rest: avoid.
