Set on a hill, surrounded by orange and olive groves, Villa Pontinos enjoys magnificent panoramic views and is a wonderful base for exploring the eastern Peloponnese or just relaxing.
Visitors (including Francois Mitterrand when he was President of France) have been enjoying this home for many years. The villa is extremely comfortable, retaining its traditional feel and architecture but with all the conveniences demanded by modern travellers.
On entering the villa through the main door you will find yourself in a hallway, there is a door leading to the bedrooms and bathroom, another to a separate wc with basin. The stairs to the upper floor are on your right.
Both bedrooms have comfortable twin beds, wardrobes and bedside cabinets. Independent air conditioning units, radiator heating and windows with shutters and fly screens guarantee your overnight comfort in all temperatures as the villa is available all year round.
The bathroom is fitted with a wc, bidet, wash basin and a lovely, relaxing, spa bath (perfect for taking away the stresses of a day sightseeing or shopping). There is also a shower above the bath.
Going up the stairs you come to the very large open plan living area, to the right is a built in kitchen with all the appliances and gadgets you should need. The open plan nature means that the cook is never left out of the party. To the left the sitting and dining area is very large with comfortable sofas, chairs, bookcases, occasional tables and satellite television. This is a perfect place for relaxing and socialising. Throughout the apartment there are many pictures, photographs, artefacts and objet d'art which most will find of interest. The living area is also air conditioned (and heated during the colder months).
Across the living area twin french doors, with shutters and fly screens, lead to the balcony.
The balcony which is well furnished with tables, chairs and sun loungers has a twin aspect, mostly to the front of the villa with wonderful panoramic views. Look ahead over the orange and olive groves, you will see across the plain of Argos to the nearby Argolic Gulf. To the right you will see the mountains which lead south down the Peloponnese into Arkadia. Around the corner of the balcony you will find a little, more private, area, perfect for relaxing with a book or just your thoughts.
Go back out of the villa and you will find yourself in the multi-level garden, with flower beds, vines, pergolas and other interesting things. On the upper level there is a large dining table and a large old brick built barbeque and oven, all available for your use (personal instruction on how to get the best results from them is always available). There is every possibility that you will be presented with a bottle of the owners home made wine (from his own grapes) to enjoy with your dinner or some fresh eggs from his chickens for your breakfast.
Villa Pontinos is located on a hill approximately 800 metres from the village of Myloi (pronounced as 'Milli") which is on the Argolic Gulf coastline. Myloi has two beaches, which are separated by the pretty harbour which has several good eating places along it length. Apart from the seafront Myloi has just about all you will need including supermarkets, tavernas, restaurants, a pharmacy and a bakery. If you require more shops or choice, the large towns of Nafplion and Argos are less than 30 minutes drive away. The area surrounding the villa is also perfect for walking or cycling.
Places of interest easily reached from the villa include Nafplion (with its castles and beautiful old town), Elliniko Pyramid, Mycenae, Epidavros, Tyrintha, Argos and Korinthos to name just a few. Other places such as Athens, Olympia and Monemvasia are a little further but possible for a long day trip.
