Mt. Blanca House
We loved staying at our VRBO in Alamosa, Colorado. Beautiful view of Mt. Blanca and other peaks. House amenities included deck with chairs and a grill, living room with futon and kitchen area, large bathroom with full size washer/dryer, separate bedroom with queen bed. Pet friendly (large dog crate provided), as well as a mud room for skis, shoes, jackets, etc. We loved the quiet outside at night. Would book again if we pass through the area.

Perfect SLV Location
Our first stay in SLV & we were so happy to have chosen this location- perfectly situated for day trips exploring the abundance of incredible natural areas, hot springs & local businesses & breweries. The view of the night sky here is amazing & exactly what we were looking for. Very little light pollution and no close neighbors while you spend the evening on the back deck. The house itself is cozy, clean & well cared for. We look forward to our next visit! ❤️

Perfect for our visit to the Sand Dunes!
This is a beautiful, cozy little house, perfect for our family and two dogs. There is a good sized dog run for the dogs to have some outside time on their own, and lots of space for their daily walks. Our destination was a visit to the Sand Dunes and the location of this property is excellent - close to the dunes, and also close to Alamosa for trips into town for food or supplies. Chris is an excellent host, and he offered advice on other area attractions that were not on our list, so we also visited Zapata Falls (a gorgeous dog friendly hike - be prepared to get wet to see the falls, but it's worth it!) and the Gator Farm, allowing my 10-yr--old to fulfill his lifelong dream of holding an alligator. This was just one stop on a family road trip, and he still says the Gator Farm was his favorite part, so thanks for the recommendation Chris! Overall this was a great place to stay, gorgeous outside views, excellent amenities and just what we were looking for.

Great value & views
My husband, dog and I had a fantastic stay at Chris's place, which we learned he built by himself! It was very private with full views of Mount Blanca and other 14ers in the distance. Easy half hour drive to the dunes. Medano creek was flowing but the sand was too hot to walk on during the daytime , so we went back for a sunset hike to the top... incredible! The basic furnishings were adequate for our needs for a few days. Chris and his dog live on the four acre property, and he was incredibly helpful when we needed him a couple of times. He went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and ensure we had everything we needed. We enjoyed relaxing and stargazing on the deck in our downtime. Wifi worked great. We were grateful for the AC as it was quite hot during the daytime. Compared to other rental options we considered, this place felt like a great value.

Getaway to the dunes
The place was amazing and exactly as described. Chris met me upon arriving and showed around the house, gave ideas on trails and things to do. He even had a dog crate there and a fully fenced kennel outside. Books, sucked kitchen, bathroom, and the views were simply amazing from every room. The craftmanship of the home is outstanding and my understanding is he built the home and all the furniture himself. Outstanding. Would rent again for another getaway.

Beautiful views & dog friendly
The house was the perfect home built lovingly by the owner. The views of the Sangre de Cristo mountain range were spectacular. We hiked Zapata Falls, Monte Vista Wildlife Refuge & The Great Sand Dunes National Park with our border collies. The owner gave us lots of local information plus our dogs loved his dog! All had a blast running & chasing sticks on the property every evening. Sunsets were awesome!

Away from it all but close to it all!!
Chris has done a wonderful job to make a well put together one bedroom cabin in the San Luis Valley looking towards mountains and the Great Sand Dunes National Park! It is modern with lots of great technology but also cabin cozy comfy with the beautiful pictures on the wall, a bookshelf full of eclectic volumes, lots of window views of amazing mountains, and a kitchen with the necessities to be able to eat in. Loved the entry room or mud room as it gave a buffer for the really cold windy weather located there during this time of year. Located about 9 miles outside of Alamosa it was far anough to feel isolated but not so far that is was isolated. I made runs into town for various things during our stay and the cabin served as a great hub for our visits to the different sides of the valley and three visits to the Dunes! Chris’s hospitality and responsiveness to our questions and needs was bar none the best we have ever experienced. Our dogs did well staying here with us and loved the fenced in area where we could allow them off leash for a little play time supervised. For older people (which we are), I would suggest including a grab bar in the really roomy and great shower. We thought the TV storage was unique and enjoyed the availability of streaming entertainment. For us, the couch was a bit on the hard side. What a great washer/dryer set up which was ideal to have in order to keep clothes ready for our next stop.

Just what we needed!
Chris, the owner, was awesome and tried to greet us but we arrived late in the evening. He was very accommodating. The house itself provides solitude and relaxation with amazing views. The deck was great for star gazing at night and the simplicity of the home is what makes it so great. A romantic getaway would be perfect for this home for a couple nights. Very close to Great Sand Dunes which was our primary reason for staying. Everything worked and you can tell the house is well cared for - you won’t regret staying at this property!

Magical location
Chris’ house is cozy and close to everything. Right between the Great Sands/Zapata waterfall and Alamosa, we were able to go to hotsprings, mountain towns, rock shops and diner breakasts all while coming back to base camp to watch TV in the AC. I traveled with two kids and we were excited to find all of Chris’ well designed and executed special touches. The bed in the bedroom and the futon in the living were comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked, as were the book shelves. Every window has an amazing view. The deck had a convertible table/bench seating, chairs, grill and fire pit. It was fun to watch Chris busy continuing to make improvements on the property. Can’t wait to come back and see what else he has created. If I had to make suggestions, I wish I had seen the small writing desk around the corner out front sooner. Also, a collection of maps/brochures about the area might be helpful! Overall, the location is really special– the mountain view and the wide open space really hit the spot.
