Great beach and nice atmosphere
Anonymous, Burlingame Nov 22, 2008
I really enjoyed this hotel. My girlfriend and myself where there in early November 2008. What we liked: 1) Beach. We ... walked around most of the hotel zone and the beach. Also there where plenty of chairs with small tables and palm trees/umbrellas for guest usage. 2) Location. The location is pretty good, within 10 minutes leisure walk to the busiest area of the hotel zone where there are a couple of malls, bars, discos, etc. If you are lazy you can take the bus which stops very close to the hotel and hop down in 2 stops for about 50 cents each. Also it is maybe a 3-4 minute walk to a supermarket (located in front of the intercontinental hotel) that has I would say good prices for the hotel zone. 3) Hotel. It is not a big chain hotel, it has a condo feeling to it, with rooms split among 5 buildings each 4 stories high. Not many people need to pass in front of your door to get to their room, which I think is nice. The room was very spacious, better than for example the RIU cancun rooms. The equipment was basic (we stayed in the standard room, not the suite), included two beds, tv, chairs, and good amounts of space. The staff was friendly, although housekeeping didn't provide a consistent service, sometimes they would change the bed sheets, a couple of times not and we had to complain. 4) Breakfast. We had breakfast, and you can have it until 11am. The options are quite filling, including fruits, pastries, cereal, milk, coffer, juice, and you can order quesadillas, omelettes, hasbrowns. Also you can pick the ingredients and they make it for you. We basically had brunch there every day, so ended up only having to pay extra for dinner.Disliked: * Housekeeping could be better, since a couple of times we has to ask for our bedsheets to be changed. * There is no elevator, so if you get a room in the fourth floor, then you get a good exercise going up and down. The bell boys carry your luggage up and down, but still for people who can't or don't like stairs might be an issue. * There is no fridge in the room, although suites have it. * A few times it seemed they didn't have enough hot water when we were taking a shower after the beach, but wasn't that bad, it just went a bit colder and we had to adjust the cold/hot water mix. All in all we are happy with our pick, the hotel is a good three stars, reasonably priced (we paid about 79 a night), the beach is better than most other hotels, the pool is nice and clean (we didn't use it much because the beach was awesome, but if you are a pool person I think it should satisfy you). The small bar/restaurant in the beach they have was good, we eat there once and it was nice to feel the sea breeze while having dinner, the price was also good.

Supermarket within a short walk. Buses are cheap and frequent, 0.50 USD gets you anywhere in the hotel zone. Beware of people selling excursions which are in fact time share representative (it is in the small print). Selvatica has a zip-lining excursion which we loved, I would recommend it as something to do on a non beach day.

Pleasant Stay
Sharon Sep 26, 2008
The Ambiance Villas offered good value for the cost of our stay. My grown daughter and I spent 5 nights and found the staff ... to be exceptionally nice and attentive. The beach was calm and the water shallow enough to wade quite a distance. The location of the Ambiance is very convenient and several buses stop directly outside the gate.

My review of Ambiance Villas
Marcela, Los Angeles, CA Jul 30, 2008
Ambience Villas is a great place for families. We stayed in a two bedroom suite w/ 2 bathrooms, there was a full ... kitchen/dining room. The kids stayed free. It was very well maintained, though I was a bit disappointed that the fitness center had just one treadmill...The beach was beautiful and it there was a bus stop right out front that was very convenient to take, and only cost 65 cents each way! The only inconvenience is that the hotel does not provide shuttle service to/from the airport and for a family of 8 who required a van...it was an expensive ride. We had a great time though and the clubs were w/in walking distance..

The Ambiance Villas is a very nice low key hotel and i would recommend it. The beach is huge and very nice as well as never ... crowded. My only complaint is that most of the linen in the room had stains on them including sheets and wash cloths. Besides that this was a cool spot. This hotel is also Walking distance from the main strip where clubs, food and shopping is located .

Good location. Ran on the beach each morning. Bar had good food at a good price. Pool was expansive and clean. Location ... was great with the local bus system of 80 cents/person got us everywhere. Taxi from airport would have been just as cheap as jitney. Buses took us all along the strip to try different places. Went downtown to wal-mart (different than home) and Mercado 28 (open air market). We ate the city square at one of the open stalls and it was good and no problems. They have worked to make the food served safe for us touristas and it shows and makes it great to go local. Be sure to get the coupon books and maps at the airport.

Short walks, long walks, 80 cent bus rides. Found good value if you are careful. Use the bus to go to the different resturants and use the coupons. Use the bar as you can charge to the room and put on your credit card and only have one exchange fee. (25 cents on VISA).

Great for adult couples without kids
Anonymous May 11, 2008
This is a great place if you are seeking a peaceful vacation without loud speakers in the pool area, without kids running ... around, and without organizers humiliating people with stupid drinking games. It is small and quiet, with a beach that could not get any better. It has very few amenities, but has clean spacious rooms and a great staff. It is also very conveniently located (about 4 blocks from good restaurants). Cancun is a great vacation destination, just stay away of the tour salesmen.
Traveler type: Couples
If you walk along the lagoon shore, you'll see Casa Tequila and a Oaxacan restaurant. Both serve great Mexican food. However, the hotel's main restaurant has a great menu for all tests and a great view of the beach.

Qiet atmoshphere and great Beach
timothy, Burlington, VT May 6, 2008
This was our second stay at the Ambiance hotel. We were a little dissappointed not to have a room with Ocean view. The room ... was very comfortable and nice. The staff did a great job cleaning the room every day and the grounds around the Hotel were emaculent. It is clear that the Management takes great pride on the Hotel appearance. Breakfast is included for all guest which is something we were not aware of in the prior year. Excellent selection and service. The Ambiance has one of the nicest beaches in the Hotel zone. Calm, clear water and lots of area on the beach. This amendity is one of the key reasons we booked our second trip at this establishment
Traveler type: Couples
The central entertainment area is within a 5 minute walk. The Hotel was just far enough away to shelter the noise from the hub of the town. I would recommend that everyone learn the bus routes/locations by kilometer as knowing this will allow easy and cheap access by bus.

Paradise Found

The Ambiance Villas are a great place to stay in Cancun. It has one of the best beaches in the area, is convenient to great ... restaurants and shopping, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. We stayed in a standard, garden view room, complete with 2 double beds (nice and firm), and a well appointed kitchenette. It was just myself and my husband, but the room could easily accommodate up to 4 people. Everything was sparkling clean, and well-maintained. We were fortunate to have the buffet breakfast included with our stay, and it was fantastic, especially the made-to-order omelets. If you are interested in Mayan culture, don't miss the bus trip to Chichen Itza. Get the all-inclusive package. It is the experience of a lifetime, one of the true ancient wonders of the world.

The desk staff (Lorenzo) recommended Macombo's for dinner, and gave us a card for a free drink each. It was a short walk from the hotel (turn left at Hertz), right on the ocean. We had authentic Mexican cuisine on the deck, and watched the pelicans fish in the surf as a mariachi band played a requested song at our table. How great is that!

Jewel of the Coast
JOSEPH, Detroit, MI Feb 14, 2008
Surrounded by larger, fancier places, none of them can match the quality of the experience at Ambiance Villas. Check in was ... flawless. An exceptional breakfast buffet with a friendly specialty cook preparing omletts and eggs to order. A spectacular view while eating at either restaurant. Prices at the beach restaurant that both preserve the pocket book and entice the taste buds. Imagine, $3.00 Pina and Margurites! Good drinks, not made with their eye on profits. Friendly bartenders, waiters and staff members willing to help with your Spanish and explain the culture. You make the time, they will provide the lessons. Small enough to make life long friends, instead of the huge places where you may feel like a dot in the sand. Is it the newest, No, the best, Probably. Could you find a better place, not likely. Oh, the best beach area in most of the Carribean, in front of Ambiance Villas.
Traveler type: Leisure
Do not go to the nearby Pizza Hut and KFC on your first night or any night because you think it is close and familiar. Instead, either eat at the beach restaurant in the complex, or walk another 200yards past the KFC to Chokoos & Teres(spelling) and have the whole grilled fish for about $15 that will send you into orbit.

Laura, Denver, CO Sep 26, 2007
The room was very small and the bathroom was smaller then a broom closet. The safe looked anything but safe. People walked by ... the balconey and looked in giving us the creeps. None of the hotel is air condintioned except the room, which did not work well. The hotel's only good feature was their beach. We did not even stay one night, but found better accomadations in a safer neighborhood. I guess you get what you pay for!
